Review:
1999 is a comic that describes two sort of tradgedies that take place in October of the year 1999. Drawing parallels between the Y2K scare and our main character Mark’s life, Sciver portrays a relatable tragedy with gorgeous black and white drawings.

Mark finds himself stuck in a dead end job with no meaning, until he meets Nora. Mark finds so much joy in Nora, but it may just be too good to be true. I really enjoyed this comic all the way through, especially the last few pages where we run back into the timeline where the comic starts. 1999 is a short sad tale that focuses on relationships, not just between Mark and Nora, but Mark and his mother. Noah Van Sciver is utterly fantastic at forming stories and illustrating.
